The app was launched a few years ago and you can download it from Google Play or the App Store. It has over a million installs on Google Play alone and is completely free to download. You don't need to sign up just to browse, but creating an account makes checkout easier. There are no in app purchases pushing extra subscriptions, which I like. You do see some ads for weekly deals, but they are not annoying. The app connects to your local Ace Hardware store, so you can check what is in stock before driving over.
Using the app is pretty straightforward. You just open it and type what you need in the search bar. I often use it to find specific paint colors or replacement parts for my grill. A tip I picked up is to save your favorite store location in the app, so it always shows the right inventory. You can also scan barcodes on old items to find replacements faster. The app lets you order for delivery or for store pickup, which I use when I don't want to wait for shipping. Sometimes I just browse the weekly ad section to see what is on sale. It is simple enough for anyone to figure out without reading a manual.
I have tried similar apps like The Home Depot and Lowe's, but I stick with Ace Hardware because it feels more local and less pushy. The Home Depot app has a ton of features, but it can be overwhelming with so many product choices. Lowe's app is good too, but their delivery times are sometimes slower in my area.
