TeraBox is a cloud storage app in the utility category that makes saving and accessing big files simple and fast. I downloaded it from Google Play about a year ago when I ran out of space on my phone. It is also available on the App Store for iPhone users. The app gives you 1TB of free cloud space when you install it. That is a huge amount compared to most free cloud services. You don't need to pay anything to download or use the basic features. You do need to create an account with an email or phone number to start using it. After that, you can upload your photos, videos, documents, and other files straight from your device. The upload process works well even for large video files. I use it mostly to back up my phone's camera roll and to store movies I want to watch later. You can also access your files from any device by logging into your account. The app does have ads, which you see when you open it or while files are uploading. But they are not too annoying. There is also a premium version that removes ads and gives more features. But for most people, the free version works just fine. I think TeraBox launched around 2020 and has grown a lot since then. Millions of people have installed it because that 1TB free offer is hard to ignore.

Using TeraBox is pretty straightforward. When you first install the app on your phone, it asks you to choose which folders to back up automatically. I recommend turning on auto backup for your camera and downloads folders. That way you never lose photos or files if your phone breaks. You can also manually upload files by tapping the upload button. Organizing your files into folders helps a lot. I made separate folders for work docs, photos, and videos. The app has a built in video player that lets you stream videos directly without downloading them first. That saves a ton of phone storage. If you want to save data, you can set it to only upload over Wi Fi. I always set that option on because uploaded files can eat up your mobile data fast. The search feature works well too. You can find any file quickly by typing its name. One tip from my own use is to delete files you no longer need from the trash folder. Otherwise they still count toward your storage limit. The app also has a recycle bin that keeps deleted files for a few days in case you change your mind.

I have tried other cloud storage apps before settling on TeraBox. Google Drive gives you only 15GB for free. That is not enough if you have lots of photos and videos. That is the main reason I chose it over others. I also like that it doesn't limit upload speed like some other apps do. The interface is clean and easy to use. It is not filled with confusing menus. The video player is a nice bonus that other cloud apps don't always have built in. Google Drive asks you to use a separate app to play videos. TeraBox does it all in one place. The app gets updates every few weeks to fix bugs and add new features. That shows the developers care about improving it. Some people complain about the ads, but I think they are a fair trade off for 1TB of free storage. Overall, TeraBox is a solid choice if you want a lot of free cloud space without paying anything.

Cons

  • 📢 Ads appear frequently while using the app. They show up when you open the app and during file uploads. Google Drive has no ads at all in its free version. The ads are not too intrusive but they can get annoying after a while.
  • ⏳ Download speed can be slow sometimes for very large files. Mega offers faster download speeds on free accounts. TeraBox could improve this to make large downloads quicker.
