FishAngler is a sports app designed to help you track catches, find fishing spots, and connect with other anglers. I stumbled upon this app about two years ago when I was looking for something more useful than just a weather app for fishing. It is available on Google Play and the App Store, and from what I have seen, it has been downloaded over a million times on Google Play alone. Downloading it was free, and I did not need to register right away to start looking around, but I did eventually make an account to save my catches. The app does have in app purchases if you want extra features, and there are some ads, but they are not too annoying while you are using it. I also checked the user reviews before installing, and most people gave it a good rating because it is easy to use.
When I use the app, I mostly open it to log the fish I catch right there on the water. You can tap to mark the exact spot on the map, add a photo of your catch, and even note the weather and water conditions at that time. A simple tip I learned is to always add a photo because it helps you remember the size and species later. Another thing I do is check the fishing reports from other users in my area. This gives me an idea where the fish are biting before I even leave home. The app also has a moon phase calendar and tide charts which are super helpful when I plan a trip. I like that I can find local bait shops and marinas directly through the map too. The interface is clean and not overloaded with buttons, so even my friend who is not great with technology finds it easy to navigate.
When I compare FishAngler to other fishing apps like Fishbrain, I think both are good but FishAngler feels more focused on the actual fishing experience rather than just a social network. Fishbrain has a bigger community, but I like that FishAngler gives me detailed maps with depth contours and navigation markers right on Google Play. I chose FishAngler over others because it has less clutter and I do not feel pressured to post everything. The app also works well offline if you download the map beforehand, which is a big plus when I am out in areas with no signal. Overall, it has become my go to app for planning trips and keeping a digital log of my catches.

Pros
- 📱 Simple and clean interface makes it easy to find what you need. Compared to Fishing Points, which has too many menus, FishAngler keeps everything in reach.
- 📸 Offline maps are a lifesaver when I am in remote areas. Most apps like Fishbrain require internet to load maps, but FishAngler lets me download them ahead of time.
- 🔔 Push notifications for weather changes and fishing conditions are actually useful. They are not spammy like some other apps that send daily tips you did not ask for.
Cons
- 📊 The free version has limited chart options. I wish I could see more detailed depth maps without paying. Fishbrain gives more free data in my opinion.
- 📱 The app sometimes crashes when loading large offline map areas. This is annoying when I am already on the water. Other apps like Fishing Points handle this better.
