I first heard about this app from a friend who said it was great for making quick videos without any editing skills. The app came out not too long ago and you can download it for free on Google Play and the App Store. It already has over a million installs, which shows a lot of people are giving it a try. When you first open the app, it asks you to register with an email or a social account. The basic download is free, but like most apps these days, it has in app purchases if you want extra features. There are also ads that pop up from time to time, which is expected for a free app. The main idea behind Pollo AI is to let anyone turn text or images into short video clips using artificial intelligence. You don't need to know anything about video editing or animation to use it. You just type a sentence or upload a photo and the app does the rest. It feels like magic the first time you try it.
Using Pollo AI is really straightforward. You start by picking what kind of video you want to make. The app gives you a few options like turning text into a video or making a photo move. I mostly use the text to video feature. You just write a few words describing what you want to see and the app creates a short clip based on that. For example, I wrote 'a cat walking in a sunny park' and within seconds a video popped up showing exactly that. The quality is not perfect but it is good enough for sharing on social media. One tip I learned is to keep your text simple. If you write too many details the app gets confused. Also try starting with a clear image if you use the photo feature. I found that photos with bright colors and simple backgrounds work best. The app lets you adjust the length of the video too though the free version only gives you short clips. Overall it is fun to play with and you can create something in just a few minutes.
There are other apps in this category like Runway and Pika Labs. I have tried both of them before settling on Pollo AI. The main reason I chose Pollo AI over the others is how easy it is to get started. Runway has a lot of features but it feels overwhelming for a beginner. Pika Labs is good too but I found the interface a bit confusing. Pollo AI keeps things simple and you do not need to watch tutorials to figure it out. Another reason is that Pollo AI works well on my phone. Some other AI video apps lag or crash on mobile devices. Pollo AI runs smoothly even on my older phone. I also like that it is free to download on Google Play. Some similar apps ask for payment right away. With Pollo AI you can test it out and see if it works for you before spending any money. It is not the most powerful app out there but for quick fun videos it does the job well.

Cons
- 👎 The video quality could be better for longer clips. Short videos look okay but when I tried making a 10 second clip the quality dropped. Runway handles longer videos much better.
- 👎 Ads appear too often in the free version. They pop up between each video generation which slows things down. Pika Labs has fewer ads in its free tier. I wish Pollo AI would reduce the ad frequency a little.
