Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés is an educational app designed to help you learn English step by step. I found this app on Google Play while looking for something to improve my speaking skills. It was released a couple of years ago and is available for free download on both Google Play and the App Store. The app has over a million installs on Google Play, which shows it has a good number of users. You do not need to register to start, but there are some in app purchases if you want extra lessons or no ads. The free version has ads, but they are not too annoying. I use it during my commute because it does not need a constant internet connection after you download the lessons.
Using Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés is pretty straightforward. When you open the app, you see a list of topics from basic greetings to more advanced conversations. I like to pick one topic each day and go through the vocabulary and phrases. The app has a listen and repeat feature which helps a lot with pronunciation. A tip I learned is to use the voice recording option to compare your speech with the native speaker. It feels like having a tutor in your pocket. You can also take short quizzes at the end of each lesson to check what you remember. I try to do at least three lessons per week, and I notice small improvements in my confidence when speaking.
I have tried other similar apps like Duolingo and Babbel, but I find Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés more focused on actual conversation practice. Duolingo is fun but feels like a game, while Babbel is more structured but costs more. This app is a good middle ground. It is simpler, and the lessons are shorter, which fits my busy schedule. I also like that it does not push you to buy a subscription right away. The free content is enough to get started, and I only paid for one extra module because I needed more travel phrases. Overall, it is a solid choice if you want a no hassle way to learn English on your phone.
Features
- 🎯 The main function of Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés is teaching English through structured lessons based on real life topics. Each lesson includes vocabulary, example sentences, and listening practice. I really like how it breaks down grammar into simple steps. Compared to Duolingo, this app focuses more on speaking and listening rather than just matching words. The listen and repeat feature is something I use every day because it helps me sound more natural.
- 📚 Another key function is the offline support. You can download lessons and access them without an internet connection. This is great when I am traveling or in areas with poor signal. Duolingo also has offline mode but only for premium users. In Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés, it is available in the free version. That is a big plus for me because I do not always have data on my phone.
- 📝 The quiz and review system is also useful. After each lesson, there are multiple choice questions and fill in the blank exercises. This helps reinforce what you just learned. I like that the app tracks your progress and shows your scores. Babbel has a similar feature, but I find this app more forgiving when I make mistakes. It encourages you to try again without showing a lot of pressure.
Pros
- 👍 The app does a great job with pronunciation practice. The voice recording tool lets me compare my speech with the app's speaker. Duolingo has some speaking exercises, but not as detailed. This makes Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés better for improving accent and tone.
- 👍 The user interface is clean and easy to navigate. Even if you are not tech savvy, you can find lessons quickly. Babbel feels cluttered sometimes, but this app keeps things simple. I like that I can jump into a lesson without reading a lot of instructions.
- 👍 The free content is generous. Many apps limit the free lessons, but here you can access a good amount of material without paying. Duolingo also offers a lot for free, but Curso Inglés, Aprender Inglés includes more listening practice in the free tier.
Cons
- 👎 One improvement I see is the lack of advanced lessons. After completing intermediate topics, there is not much for fluent speakers. Duolingo has a larger range of levels, so this app could expand its content for higher learners.
- 👎 The ads interrupt sometimes during quizzes. While the app is free, the frequency of ads can be distracting. Babbel has no ads because it is subscription based, but for a free app, reducing ad frequency would make the experience smoother.
