I downloaded it from Google Play a few months ago after seeing a friend's hilarious "old age" photo. It's been around for a few years and is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store. On Google Play, it has over 50 million installs, which shows how popular it is. The app is free to download and use, which is great. You don't need to register or create an account to start playing with the filters, making it super quick to jump in. While the core features are free, there are some in-app purchases if you want to remove ads or access certain premium filters. I do see ads occasionally, but they are usually short video ads between edits and aren't too intrusive.

Using FaceLab is really straightforward. You just open the app, take a new photo or pick one from your gallery, and then choose an effect. My favorite part is the aging filter. You can see yourself as an older person, and it's surprisingly realistic and fun to share. There are also other options like adding beards, changing hairstyles, or applying makeup. A simple tip from a regular user: make sure your face is well-lit and centered in the photo for the best results. The AI works better with a clear front-facing shot. Another tip is to try the "gender swap" filter; it's a crowd-pleaser at parties.
