Suno is an AI music and songs maker app that makes creating music simple and fast. It basically lets anyone become a singer and songwriter without needing to play an instrument or have a studio. The app launched in 2023 and is available on both Google Play and the App Store, with over 10 million installs from Google Play alone. It is free to download, and you can start making songs right away without registration, though having an account lets you save your creations. There are in-app purchases for more credits, and the free version shows some ads now and then, but nothing too annoying.
Using Suno is very straightforward. When you open the app, you just type in some words about the kind of song you want, like "a happy pop song about summer," and the AI does the rest. You can pick a genre or style from the options they give you, like rock, hip-hop, or even classical. I usually just mess around with different lyrics and see what comes out. One tip I learned is to use simple, catchy words in your prompt if you want a more melodic tune. You can also remix your own songs or create cover versions using the AI tools. The app keeps everything organized in your library, so it's easy to go back and listen to your old work.
Compared to apps like AIVA or Soundraw, Suno just feels more direct and fun. AIVA is more for composers and needs some knowledge of music theory, while Suno is for anyone who wants to create in seconds. Soundraw is good for making background music, but Suno gives you full songs with vocals, lyrics, and different sections. For me, I choose Suno because it feels like magic. I am not a musician, but I can still share songs with my friends on social media. It is a great way to have fun and do something creative without stressing about getting every note right.
Features
- Text to Song Feature: This is the core of the app. You type any idea, feeling, or story, and it turns it into a full song within seconds. Most other apps need you to select instruments or adjust settings, but Suno does everything with just text.
- Voice and Genre Options: You can pick from many preset voices and music styles, which makes each song feel different. Apps like Voicemod offer voice changes but not full song creation. Suno combines both voice and genre changes.
- Song Remix and Cover Tools: You can take any song you made and create a new version of it with different lyrics or style. This makes the app good for exploring different musical ideas. It is better than using separate tools to edit audio later.
Pros
- Creative Freedom: Suno lets anyone make a song from nothing. It is easier than using GarageBand or BandLab, which require more steps and music knowledge.
- High Quality Output: The songs sound polished and professional, even from short prompts. This is better than similar apps like Loudly that give more basic results.
- Quick Generation: Each song takes only a few seconds to create. This speed is faster than making music with traditional software or other AI apps like Boomy.
Cons
- Vocal Quality Limits: The singing voice sounds good, but it sometimes feels robotic compared to apps like Jammable that have more realistic vocals.
- Control Over Music: You cannot change individual instruments or parts easily. Other apps like Soundtrap give more control over the music structure.
- Free Credit Restriction: The free version gives very few credits, which stops you from making many songs in one day. Other apps give more free credits upfront.
