Life360 is a lifestyle app designed to help you stay connected with your family and close friends through real time location sharing. I have been using this app for about two years now, and it really gives me peace of mind when my kids are out. It launched back in 2008 and is available on both Google Play and the App Store. On Google Play alone, it has over 100 million installs, which shows how many people trust it. The app is free to download, but you do need to create an account and set up a circle with your family members. There are in app purchases for the premium version, which removes ads and adds more features. The free version does show some ads, but they are not too annoying.

When I first started using Life360, I set up a circle for my family of four. Everyone needs to install the app on their phone and share their location. It is very easy to add people by sending them an invite through the app. A simple tip I always give is to check the location history if you are worried about someone's safety. You can see where they have been during the day, which is great for parents. I also like the driving reports feature that tells me if my teen was speeding or using their phone while driving. You can set up alerts for when someone arrives at or leaves a place, like school or home. This makes it easy to know if everyone is safe without having to text them all the time.

I have tried other location sharing apps like Google Maps location sharing, but I prefer Life360 because it is more focused on family safety. Google Maps only shows the current location, but Life360 gives you history, driving data, and emergency features. Another similar app is Glympse, but it is only temporary sharing. Life360 is always on, which is what I need. The app feels more personal and designed for real families. I do wish the free version had fewer ads, but the core features work well enough. Overall, it is the best choice for my family because it is simple and trusted by millions of users on Google Play.

Features

  • 🔵 Real time location sharing with your family circle. I can see exactly where my husband and kids are at any moment, which is super helpful during busy school pickups. Google Maps just shows a dot, but this app updates faster and shows battery levels too.
  • 🔵 Driving reports that track speed, phone use, and hard braking. As a parent, this is gold for me. My teenager knows I can see their driving behavior, so they are more careful. Other apps like Family360 do not have this feature.
  • 🔵 Location history for up to 30 days. I can rewind and see where my son went after school last week. It is great for checking routines. Life360 keeps a full timeline with street names, while Google Maps only saves a few days.
  • 🔵 Emergency alert with crash detection. If someone in my circle gets into a car accident, the app automatically sends an alert to everyone. This is a feature I hope I never use, but it makes me feel safer knowing it is there.

Pros

  • ✅ Easy setup and very user friendly. I had my whole family on it in under ten minutes. Compared to Life360, other apps like Zenly were harder to set up and required more permissions.

Cons

  • ❌ The free version has too many ads. They pop up when I am just checking locations, which gets annoying. Similar apps like Glympse show fewer ads.
