You'll also see some ads, particularly in the 'Moments' feed and certain mini-programs, but they are generally not too intrusive for casual chatting.
As a daily user, I open WeChat first thing in the morning. I use it to message my group chats, send voice notes to my parents because it's easier for them, and scroll through Moments to see what friends are up to. A simple tip is to use the 'WeChat Pay' function within the app – you can link a card and then pay for everything from street food to taxi rides without cash. It's incredibly convenient. I also use the 'Scan' feature all the time, not just for QR codes to add friends, but to translate text instantly or identify products. For work, the file transfer is a lifesaver; you can send large videos and documents directly in a chat without losing quality. Remember to organize your chats by pinning the important ones to the top.
