The app launched on mobile platforms years ago, building on the legacy of the desktop Firefox browser. You can download it for free from both Google Play and the Apple App Store. On Google Play, it has over 100 million installs, which shows how popular it is. It's completely free to download and use. You don't need to register or create an account to start browsing, which is great for privacy. The app does show some ads, mainly through sponsored content on its new tab page, but these are generally not intrusive. There are also optional in-app purchases, like supporting Mozilla through donations, but these are not required for core features.

The interface is clean, so you don't get lost in menus. For everyday browsing, it feels fast and pages load without much delay. I also like that you can add search engines easily and use reader mode to strip away clutter from articles.

Compared to other browsers like Chrome or Samsung Internet, Firefox stands out for its strong focus on privacy. Chrome is faster on some sites and integrates deeply with Google services, but it's also known for collecting a lot of data. Firefox gives you more control. It has Enhanced Tracking Protection turned on by default, which many similar apps don't do. Samsung Internet is also good and has some nice features for Samsung phone users, but Firefox feels more independent and is available on all Android devices. I chose Firefox over others because I value privacy and want a browser that respects that without sacrificing too much speed. It's not always the absolute fastest in every benchmark, but for real-world use, it's plenty quick and the peace of mind is worth it.
