Bloons TD Battles is a competitive tower defense game from Ninja Kiwi, the creators of the popular Bloons TD series. It's available on mobile (both iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play) and also on PC. The game is free to download and play, but it includes in-app purchases for things like special powers, cosmetic upgrades, and faster access to new content. You can play without spending money, though you might see ads between matches or for bonus rewards.

You play by building a defense of monkey towers to pop the oncoming 'bloons' (balloons) before they reach the end of the path. The twist is you're playing in real-time against another player on a mirrored map. The best part is sending bloons directly to your opponent to pressure their defense. My favorite part is the mind games in the late rounds, deciding whether to save money for my own defense or spend it all to send a massive rush of bloons to try and overwhelm the other player. It gets really intense.

Compared to other tower defense games like the single-player Bloons TD 6 or Kingdom Rush, this one is all about head-to-head competition. If you like strategy games but want the excitement of directly outsmarting a real person, this is a great pick. I recommend it to players who enjoy fast-paced, tactical duels more than slow, puzzle-like planning.
