Live Score Football is a sports app that makes following live matches simple and fast. I downloaded it from Google Play after looking for a way to keep up with games while at work. The app launched a few years back and is available on both Google Play and the App Store. It has over 10 million installs which tells you it is pretty popular. You can download the app for free and start using it right away without creating an account. There are ads that show up now and then but you can remove them if you pay for the premium version. The in-app purchases are mostly for ad removal and some extra features like detailed stats. I like that I do not need to register just to check scores because some apps force you to sign up first. The app covers leagues from all over the world including the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and many more.

Using this app is really straightforward. When you open it you see a list of ongoing matches with scores updated in real time. You can tap on any match to see more details like lineups, substitutions, and goal timings. My tip is to turn on notifications for your favorite teams so you get alerts when they score. I also like the league tables section where you can see standings without jumping through menus. The app has a dark mode which I use at night because it is easier on the eyes. If you follow multiple leagues you can set your preferences and the app will show the matches that matter to you first. The interface is clean and not cluttered like some other score apps I have tried.

Compared to other score apps like FlashScore and Sofascore, Live Score Football feels simpler to use. I tried FlashScore before but it had too many features that I never used. This app focuses on the basics which is what I need. Sofascore has more advanced stats but the layout is confusing sometimes. What makes me keep this app is the speed of updates. The scores refresh very fast and I have not noticed delays during big matches. Some apps get slow during high traffic games but not this one. It also uses less data which helps when I am on mobile internet. The main reason I chose it over others is the clean design and the fact that it does not nag you to create an account. It just works and that is all I ask for from a sports app.

Features

  • 📊 Real-time match scores update instantly so I never miss a goal. Tap any match to see lineups, cards, and substitutions. FlashScore has the same but the interface here feels faster and less cluttered.
  • 🔔 Customizable notifications let you pick specific teams or leagues. I set alerts only for my club and get notified when they score. Some apps like 365Scores send too many alerts for every match by default.
  • 📅 Match schedule and league tables are easy to find. I can check upcoming fixtures for the week and see standings with just one click. Sofascore hides the tables in a submenu which I find annoying.

Pros

  • ⚽ Speed is the best thing about this app. Scores update faster than any other app I have used including FlashScore. During live matches there is no lag.
  • 🎨 The design is simple and not overloaded with info. I can find what I need without hunting through tabs. Sofascore has too many stats on the main screen which confuses me.
  • 🔓 No registration needed to use the main features. I can just open the app and see scores. Some apps like LiveScore require login for basic features which wastes time.

Cons

  • 📰 No news section for team updates. FlashScore has brief news articles after matches which I sometimes want. This app only shows scores and stats.
  • 📊 Live graphs and detailed stats are missing. Sofascore gives possession and shots data during the game. I would like to see that here too.
