Football Jersey Maker is a sports design app that lets you create custom jerseys right from your phone. I found this app on Google Play a few weeks ago, and it's been a fun way to design shirts for my weekend football team. The app launched in 2024, and from what I saw, it has around 50,000 installs so far. You can download it for free, but there are some in app purchases if you want extra kit templates or premium colors. No registration is needed to start, but after a few designs, it asks you to sign in to save your work. The ads show up now and then, but they are not too annoying. The app is also on the App Store for iPhone users, so it works on both types of phones.

Using the app is really simple. When you open it, you pick a jersey shape, then choose the colors for each part like the sleeves, the body, and the collar. You can add numbers and a team name on the back, which is what I do for all my mates. A tip I learned is to start with a preset template and then change the colors one by one. It saves time, and you get a better look. The app also lets you see the front and back of the shirt, so you know what you are making. I like that you can rotate the jersey and zoom in to see small details. The design tools are easy to tap and move around, so even my friend who is not good with tech could make a shirt in ten minutes.

I tried a few other jersey maker apps before this one, like Soccer Jersey Designer and Custom Team Kit Maker. Those apps are fine, but they felt a bit cluttered with too many buttons. Football Jersey Maker keeps things clean and simple, which is why I chose it. The colors look more real on screen here, and the app loads fast on my older phone. On Google Play, I saw some reviews saying that other apps have more fonts, but for me, this one is good enough for my team's needs. It does not crash or lag, and that matters a lot when you are just trying to make a quick design. I think for a free app, it gives you a fair amount of control without pushing too many paid extras in your face.

  • 🏆 The free version gives you enough options without pushing paid upgrades too hard. You can make a complete jersey without paying a cent. In other similar apps, you hit a paywall when you try to save or export your design. Here, you can export as a normal image for free.

Cons

  • ⚠️ The font selection is limited. There are only around eight fonts to choose from, while a rival app like Textile Designer has over twenty. I wish they would add a few more options, especially for team names with a sporty look.
  • ⚠️ The ad frequency increases after you make three designs. It shows a full screen ad every time you go back to the main menu. Other apps like Jersey Maker Lite only show banner ads, which are less intrusive. This part could be improved.
