Brainova is a brain training app in the puzzle category that focuses on improving IQ and logic skills. I found this app on Google Play a few months ago and decided to download it because I was looking for something to keep my mind sharp during my daily commute. The app was released in 2023 and is available on both Google Play and the App Store, with over 1 million installs on Android alone. Its completely free to download and you can start playing right away without registering, though there are some optional in app purchases if you want extra features or hints. There are also ads between rounds, but they are not too annoying and you can watch them to get rewards.

When I use Brainova, I usually start with the logic games because those are my favorite. The app has different categories like memory tests, math puzzles, and pattern recognition. Each game takes about 5 to 10 minutes, so it fits nicely into a break or while waiting for something. One tip I can share is to always finish all the daily challenges, because they give you extra points and help track your progress. I also like to repeat levels where I scored low, as it helps me improve over time. The app shows your IQ score estimate and how it changes week by week, which keeps me motivated.

Compared to other brain training apps like Lumosity or Elevate, Brainova feels simpler and more direct. I have used those other apps before, but they often ask for a subscription right away. With Brainova, I can play a lot for free without feeling pushed to pay. The design is also more clean and the puzzles feel fresh. I am not saying the other apps are bad, but for someone who just wants to play logic games without a big commitment, Brainova is a better choice. I still keep it installed on my phone and play almost every day.

Features

  • IQ tests and scoring: Brainova offers timed IQ tests that give you a score estimate after each session. Unlike Peak, which focuses more on general skills, Brainova puts the IQ result front and center, so you always know your level.
  • Logic puzzles with hints: The logic games are well designed and you get a hint system if you get stuck. Compared to CogniFit, which feels more clinical, Brainova keeps things fun and casual while still being challenging.
  • Daily challenges for streaks: You can earn streak bonuses by playing daily. This is similar to Elevate, but Brainova gives better rewards and shows more detailed stats about your progress over time.
  • Minimal setup and no subscription: You can start playing immediately without creating an account. While apps like Lumosity lock most content behind a paywall, Brainova lets you access almost everything for free.

Pros

  • Easy to use interface: The app is very intuitive and I never got confused finding a game. Compared to Memory Matrix, Brainova has a much cleaner layout and better navigation.
  • Free to play almost everything: I did not have to pay to unlock core features. While many brain training apps ask for money early on, Brainova respects your time and wallet.
  • Good variety of puzzles: There are memory, math, logic, and pattern games all in one place. Unlike some apps that just repeat the same type, Brainova mixes it up enough to keep me interested.

Cons

  • Too many ads between levels: The ads come up often and break the flow. Apps like Brain Test show fewer ads, so this is something Brainova could improve.
  • No multiplayer mode: It would be fun to challenge friends. Similar apps like Quiz Planet have this feature, but Brainova is single player only.
