You can download it for free, and there is no need to make an account before you start. The app runs on ads and has in app purchases for extra tools, but the basic scan works without paying.
Using the app is pretty simple. You open it, pick the file type you lost, and let it scan your storage. The scan takes a few minutes, and then you see a list of files you might recover. From my own use, I suggest scanning right after you notice the file is gone, because new photos and videos can overwrite the old data. I also like to turn on airplane mode before a deep scan so nothing new saves to the phone. When the list shows up, preview each file first and only restore the ones you really need. Then tap recover and save them to a safe folder. If the first scan finds nothing, run it again with the deep option. It takes longer but often finds more.
I have tried a few other tools for this job, like DiskDigger and Dr.Fone. DiskDigger is fine for photos but feels limited for documents. Dr.Fone does a lot, but it is heavy and pushes you to pay fast. Recovery Pro - File Recovery feels lighter and the free scan shows real results before you spend anything.
