Toyota is an app in the automotive category that makes car ownership simple and fast. I have been using it for about six months now, and it really helps me stay connected with my vehicle. The app lets me check my fuel level, see my tire pressure, and even start my car remotely. It works on both Google Play and the App Store, so no matter what phone you have, you can download and install it. The app is free to download, but you do need to create an account and link it to your vehicle. It gets regular updates, and so far I have seen it has over 10 million installs. You don't have to pay anything to use the basic features, but there are some connected services that might require a subscription. So far, I have not seen any annoying ads, which is nice. The app launched a few years ago and has gotten better over time with each update.
When I first downloaded the app, I was not sure how much I would actually use it. But after setting it up, I found myself opening it almost every day. I use it mostly to check my fuel level before I head out, especially on cold mornings when I do not want to walk outside. The remote start feature is also great. I just open the app, tap the button, and my car warms up while I finish my coffee. If you own a Toyota, my tip is to spend some time setting up your profile and linking your car properly. It makes everything smoother. I also like that I can send destinations from Google Maps straight to my car's navigation. That saves me time because I do not have to type the address into the car screen.
There are other apps from other car brands, but I think Toyota does a good job keeping things simple. For example, I have tried HondaLink and MySubaru, but Toyota feels more polished. The interface is clean and easy to use. It does not lag or crash often, which I really appreciate. I also like that it shows me my car's health status. No other app I have tried gave me that much detail without being confusing. It is definitely worth downloading if you own a compatible Toyota. I would say this is one of the best car apps on Google Play right now.
Features
- 🚗 Remote start and climate control – I can start my car and set the temperature right from my phone. This is super useful in winter and summer.
- 🔋 Vehicle health report – The app checks my car's systems and tells me if something needs attention. It is like having a mechanic in my pocket.
- 📍 Send to navigation – I can send an address from my phone to my car's GPS. This saves typing time and helps me avoid distractions while driving.
- 📡 Stolen vehicle tracker – If my car ever gets stolen, the app can help track its location. This gives me a lot of peace of mind, and I do not think other apps like MyChevrolet make this as easy to use.
Pros
- ✅ Remote start works every time – I have used it dozens of times, and it has never failed me. With some other apps like FordPass, I have heard people complain about delays or errors.
- ✅ Easy to install and set up – The app only took me a few minutes to download, install, and connect to my car. I did not need help from anyone.
- ✅ Clean and simple design – The home screen shows the most important information first. I do not have to dig through menus to find my fuel level or tire pressure.
Cons
- ❌ Subscription fees for some features – I wish more features were free. Some useful tools like remote start need a paid plan after the trial ends.
- ❌ Notifications can be delayed – Sometimes I get a door unlock alert minutes after it actually happened. Other apps send notifications faster.
