Video call Elssa is a communication app in the social category that focuses on random video chats with people from all over the world. I found this app on Google Play a few weeks ago and decided to try it out. It has been on the market for about a year now and you can download it for free on both Google Play and the App Store. The app has over a million installs which shows that many people are using it. You do not need to register to start a call, which I really like because it saves time. It does have in app purchases and you will see some ads while using it, but the basic features work well without paying anything.

When you open the app, you just tap the start button and it connects you to a random person. You can swipe to skip someone if you feel like moving on. I usually use it when I am bored at home or waiting for something. My tip is to use good lighting and a strong internet connection because the video quality matters a lot. Also, if you want to avoid awkward silence, just start with a simple hello and a smile. Many users are friendly and open to talking, so do not be shy. The app also has a text chat option in case you do not want to turn on your camera right away.

There are other apps in this space, but Video call Elssa feels simpler and less complicated. Compared to apps like ChatHub or Random Cam, I find this one easier to use and the connection speed is usually faster. The interface is clean and not crowded with buttons. I chose this app because it does not push you to create an account before you start chatting. That makes it stand out for me. It is not perfect, but for a quick and fun conversation, it gets the job done. I have had some really nice talks here and met people from different countries, so I keep coming back to it.

Features

  • 😊 The main function is one tap random video chat. You press a button and the app finds someone for you almost instantly. That is the core of the whole experience.
  • 😊 You get a filter option to choose gender or region if you want. This is helpful when you want to talk to someone from a specific country or prefer a certain group. Not all similar apps offer this for free.
  • 😊 The text chat feature is built in well. If your camera is off or you feel uncomfortable on video, you can still chat by typing. It makes the app usable in more situations.
  • 😊 Compared to ChatHub, this app has a simpler layout and fewer steps before you start calling. ChatHub often shows too many pop ups and asks for permissions. Video call Elssa keeps things direct and fast, which is what I need.

Pros

  • 👍 It connects fast. I have tried many apps where you wait forever for a match, but here it takes just a few seconds. That is a big win for me.
  • 👍 The app is free to use for the basic stuff. You can talk to random people without paying a cent, which is not always the case with similar apps like Omegle alternatives that push paid features hard.
  • 👍 It does not show too many ads. I was expecting a lot of interruptions, but the ad frequency is actually low, so the experience stays smooth.

Cons

  • 👎 The app can get a bit quiet at times, especially during late hours. You might wait a little longer to find someone, unlike Camsurf which seems to have a bigger user pool at night.
  • 👎 Some filters like gender or location require in app purchases. I wish those were free because it limits how much you can control your experience without paying.
