Hailuo AI is a video and image generation app in the creativity category that focuses on turning text into high quality visuals. I found this app on Google Play a few months ago and decided to download it just to see what AI video tools look like. The app was launched by MiniMax AI and it is available on both Google Play and the App Store. It has over a million installs on Google Play already which is pretty impressive for a newer tool. The download is free and you do not need to pay anything to start using it. You can register with your Google account or your phone number so it is quick to set up. There are in app purchases if you want faster generation or higher resolution outputs but the free version works fine for casual use. I also saw some ads but they are not too annoying and do not interrupt the creative flow too much.
When I use the app I usually type a short description of what I want to see like a cat riding a bicycle through a city or a sunset over a lake. The app then generates a short video clip based on that prompt. It takes about 30 seconds to a minute depending on the server load. I like to keep my prompts simple because complex sentences sometimes confuse the AI. One tip I learned is to use clear nouns and avoid too many adjectives at once. For example instead of writing a beautiful glowing sunset with birds and waves I just write sunset over ocean with waves. That gives me a cleaner result. You can also upload your own image and ask the app to animate it which is a really fun feature.
I have tried other apps like Pika Labs and Runway but I keep coming back to Hailuo AI because it feels more user friendly for a non professional like me. The interface on Google Play version is clean and the buttons are easy to find. Runway has more features but it feels overwhelming sometimes. Pika Labs is good but the video quality on Hailuo seems smoother in my experience.
