Ticketmaster AU Event Tickets is a ticketing app designed to help you find and buy tickets for concerts, sports, theatre, and other live events across Australia. I've been using it for a couple of years now, ever since it launched, to grab tickets for shows in Sydney and Melbourne. You can download it for free on both Google Play and the App Store. It has millions of installs on Google Play, which shows how many people rely on it. The app itself is free to download and install, but you obviously pay for the tickets. You don't need to register an account just to browse, but you will need one to actually make a purchase. There are no annoying in-app purchases for extra features, but you do see some ads or promotions for upcoming events, which can actually be helpful for discovering new things.

Using the app is pretty straightforward. When I want to see what's on, I just open it and search by city, artist, or venue. The map feature for choosing seats at big stadiums is a lifesaver – you can see exactly what your view will be like before you buy. My top tip is to save your payment details in your account beforehand. When tickets for a popular band go on sale, every second counts, and having your card info ready means you can check out super fast. Also, turn on notifications for your favourite artists or teams; the app will alert you the moment tickets are released, so you don't miss out.

Compared to other ticketing apps like Ticketek or Eventbrite, I keep coming back to Ticketmaster AU. It just feels like the official source for most of the big tours and sports games I want to see. The inventory seems bigger, especially for international acts. While other apps work fine, Ticketmaster's integration with the venue maps and its smoother checkout process make it my go-to. It feels more reliable when trying to secure those hard-to-get tickets, which is the whole point.

Features

  • 🎫 Huge Event Discovery & Booking: The main function is browsing and buying tickets. It covers everything from huge stadium concerts to local comedy clubs. Compared to something like Moshtix, which is great for club gigs, Ticketmaster AU has the edge for major arena tours and sporting events, making it a one-stop shop.
  • 🎫 Interactive Seat Maps: This is a standout feature. You can zoom in on a venue map and pick your exact seats, seeing a preview of the stage view. Other apps often just offer price zones. This visual choice is so much better and reduces the fear of getting a bad seat.
  • 🎫 Fast, Integrated Checkout: Once you've selected tickets, the purchase flow is very quick, especially if your details are saved. It feels more seamless than some competitors where you get passed to a web browser, which can glitch during high demand.
  • 🎫 Personalised Alerts & Reminders: You can follow artists, teams, and venues to get notified about on-sales and event reminders. It's more proactive than just checking an app like Humanitix, which is fantastic for charity events but doesn't have this level of personal tracking.

Pros

  • ✅ Official Primary Seller: For most big tours, it's the official first point of sale. You're buying directly, which feels safer than using a resale app immediately. It has better initial ticket access than aggregator apps.
  • ✅ Superior Seat Selection: The interactive seat map is far better than the simple lists or zone picks offered by many similar ticketing platforms. It gives you real control.
  • ✅ Reliable for High-Demand Sales: The app handles traffic surges for popular events better than some smaller apps. While you might get a queue, it's generally stable compared to competitors' sites crashing.

Cons

  • ⚠️ Fees Can Be High: The service and order processing fees added at checkout are often steeper than on some other platforms, which is a common gripe compared to simpler ticketing apps.
  • ⚠️ Can Be Complex for New Users: With all its features, the interface can feel a bit busy. Simpler apps like Eventbrite are easier for one-off, general event bookings.
